Joana Lima was born in Coimbra, Portugal, in 1982. She lived in Portugal until 2008, where she completed a license degree in Art History (Lisbon), specifically because she wanted to master issues of visual aesthetics, color harmony, symbolism, framing and composition, before moving on into becoming a filmmaker. At the same time she was a cinemateque nerd and a compulsory writer of short stories, being most inclined to do live-action narratives.
